Sweet, moist and copper-colored, garnet yams are a wonderful baking tuber — their understated sweetness shines in pies, breads and muffins. You can also top with butter, salt and pepper and pop 'em in a hot oven. Or peel, boil or steam and purée to make a rich, thick soup.We strive to choose only organically grown or certified organic produce from as close to home as possible. However, sometimes we are unable to find a local AND organic option, and in that event we may choose to offer a pesiticide-free local product from a farmer that uses integrated pest management on their crops.

To make sure you can always get the best produce and pantry items available, we source fruits, veggies and grocery items from many of our trusted local farmers and producers. As with all the products in our Marketplace, we prioritize working with local producers as seasonality allows, and we maintain our strict sourcing standards. Produce and pantry items that’s not available from Texas farmers or producers due to growing region or season will always be secondary when sourcing.
Store fresh, uncooked yams in a cool, dark, dry area for up to two weeks. Do not refrigerate them. Cooked yams can be kept refrigerated for two to three days. Pack them in an airtight container if you want to freeze them, leaving about a half inch of headroom. You can safely freeze yams for 10 to 12 months at 0 F.
